I have been using Safe guard paste wormer for the last couple of years. Tonight i was at the local Tractor Supply store and saw Safe guard wormer for goats. The label said 10% in suspension. Can this be used on my beagles? If so has anyone had sucess with it? At what rate (if any ) could I give this to my beagles?

Next time i get it im going to getter the bigger bottle for cattle. I'm pretty sure its all the same.

I think the 10% for goats is different than for the cattle but I am not sure. I would ask around more before I took the chance.Just my .02

I have used safeguard for goats on my dogs. It works fine and easier to give than the paste. I have 12 dogs and needed to use the bigger bottle for cattle.

Here ya go if ya don't believe me. They both say 10% Fenbendazole. Check out the links. All the same.

ivomec is the only way to go.

I use both Ivomec and Safeguard.

1/2 cc ivomec and fill the rest of the 3 cc with palomate wormer and good to go. no flea's no worms no heart worms does it all once a moth and a $25 bottle will last all year or longer depending on how many hounds you have.

I didn't mean for it to sound like I don't believe you Huntin 54. I just never heard of anyone using the Safeguard for goats is all and I wasn't sure myself. I use the big bottle for cattle because I have 11 dogs I have to worm and my hunting buddy has 8 dogs so we split the cost.

I suppose you mean pyrantel pamoate. Pretty good wormer combo, but there are more effective drugs for removing the rabbit host tapeworm, and whipworms. I use Safeguard, Ivo, and Droncit. Imidachloprid for fleas and ticks. Tuff subject to put into black and white terms, because without high cost diagnostic testing we are going by educated guessing.

Srry TnHoss i didn't know that you used SafeGuard. Yea its just a smaller bottle of the same stuff and doesn't cost as much. But if you have more dogs then you need the big bottle. How long does it last you and your buddy?? And what size bottle do you get??

larry your right but thats worked for me for years so i figure why change it if its workin.

No problem Huntin54, we use the 1,000 ml bottle and if were lucky it last a year, but we also raise a couple of litters of pups too and we worm them from 3 weeks of age every week till they are 12 weeks old then it's every other month.

Thanks for all the input everyone. So at what cc dose do I treat my beagles? Can I mix it with food, or does it have to be given on a empty stomach?

1 cc per every 5 lbs of weight. I give mine a dose at feeding time 3 days in a row every other month and have never paid any attention as to doing it on a empty stomach or not and I don't think you can mix it with food, just give it orally.
