Add some zinc to the diet 10mg or less daily. I have found that Pink Ointment from Alaska works best on cracked paws. It is a dietary problem, IMO, so add some fresh meat and veg. Also wash hound's feet when you come back from hunting and keep them dry between runs. Carolyn

Bill, what does it look like on their pads. It could be fungus. I have had dogs get a fungus that looks like foot rot. It would eat a big chunk out of their pad.I tried just about everything. The best cure I could find was an antibiotic called Cephalexin and some Lamasil jock itch spray powder. It works good.

Wilson Creek,

Here is a link to another thread on this board about where to get Pink Ointment. The last post has all the info on where to get it.

For fungus feet, put half clorox and half water in a container and put feet in there for about 5 minutes twice a day for 3 days. I usually use a small bucket and do two feet at a time.

I had this problem some years ago. I put some NuStock on their feet. This worked well for me. Phone number is 1800-Nustock

Good luck
