Diamond Natural
Have any of you tried the Natural blend of Diamond? I believe there is a Chicken and Rice that is 26% protein 16% fat, or somewhere in that range. It comes in 40 lb. bags and the cost is about the same as the green bag. I was just wondering if it was any good, it seems that the ingredients are better? Maybe Bunny Runner could comment on it, I don't have access to alot of different feed in this area. Diamond, HI-standard, and Purina dog chow are about it. I asked about this on someone elses thread and decided to bring it over here, if any one has any comments please respond.

Since I haven't even looked at this line, I thought I would check them out. Here's what I have found out. They make several formula's: Chicken and Rice, Lamb & Rice, Beef, Small & Large breed puppy forumlas, Small breed adult, and senior.
Their feeds look pretty good actually. If I was a Diamond fan, I would feel comfortable feeding this food.
The one thing I did notice is the low kcals of the adult formula's, and while this is not necessarily a bad thing in general, during heavy periods of activity, you'll need to feed more than the recommended amounts OR supplement with extra protein and fat.
It certainly is worthy of a try, IMO, and much better than alot of the other foods out there. I especially like the first 2 ingredients. Real meat followed by it's compliment "meal".
If you try it, I'd be interested in your results
I'd keep in mind with a company like diamond, that you should keep some type of journal of results between bags. I've noticed with their other feeds, inconsistant results while feeding the same feed over a period of time. It seems that the different "lots" of feed were (for me) producing inconsistant results that were hard to determine the cause. Then I started realizing that it was the food. The ever changing quality of ingredients and sources of their "meals" and "fats" were creating issues with my dogs skin and coat, along with the "quality" of their stool. By journaling, you can more easily monitor and refer back to a particular feed and it's results.
