Yellow discharge

Had my dog out hunting Sat. and he seemed OK. The next morning he seemed OK. At lunch time he was limping and his front left leg was swollen at the firs joint above the paw. When I went to check him he had a yellow discharge from his tear duct that was the color of butter. Checked him a little later and the yellow discharge was gone and has not returned. Could it be a snake or spider bite ??
I am in S. Pa. and I thought it would be too cool for snakes. Any thoughts ??

My dogs get "eye boogers" discharge from the tear duct, especially when I run them in high grass.
I would suspect that the eye discharge and leg injury are unrelated.
The dog may have just twisted or sprained a joint.

When I have a dog limping I roll them onto their backs and manipulated the joints front back and put pressure side to side at each joint. I check the feet thoroughly. Press, push, and feel all over the dog's foot and leg.
Another thing I like to do is have the dog stand and lift the uninjured leg.
If the dog imediately goes to a sitting or laying position, that leg is really sore.

Sometimes you will find a sore spot or joint, and sometimes you will not. If I have a dog limping I generally put them up for a minimum of 2 weeks. I let them out in the yard every day to see what they are doing.
I had one up for two weeks, the first time out running he was limping again, so I put him up for an additional week and didn't run him hard for the next few weeks (only an hour or two at a time).
