2o Mule Team Detergent (borax) sprinkled lightly on the ground and watered in really helps. I would try spraying Bayer Advanced Garden Tree and Shrub Insect Control (same active ingredient as Avantix) in the cracks and crevices. If that does not solve your problem, MOVE!

Seven Dust. Powder the dogs and the kennel.

I know a guy that used to take a rag and dampen it with crude oil and wipe his dogs coats down with it. He claimed it was the best flea repellant there was.

KRH: That USED to be a CHEAP alternative but the way crude prices are going who knows - LOL (better to laugh

than to cry

Coolbreeze, I spray my dirt pens 2 or 3 times a summer with the red farm diesal(off-road diesal) it is higher in sulfer than regular diesal. I have been doing this for atleast 10 years and have had no problems. I like to do this for several reasons the main ones being fleas and ticks and it keeps the grass and weeds out of the pens.

Years ago we would use farm desiel and spray dogs and pens. It seems it gets too hot now. I would use seven dust but mix in some sulfar this will stop your flea and tick problem. Sprinkle on dogs and in bedding area and around pens. If the does not solve your problem let me know and I will get you the name of some other things we use but this should do it.
Good luck,
Cedric

Guess I should have clarified from the start. I don't have a flea prob. but had heard an old timer talk about diesel for fleas. I use Frontline Plus and have never had a problem w/ fleas. Thanks for the replies, seems there is some truth to what he was saying.

Used motor oil on dogs gets rid of fleas. You have to watch what you put on the ground,as it could be considered a spill by the EPA. And that is a very costly clean up.

Ivomec definitely does rounds and there's a few brands that do tapes now as well.

I have been using Ivomec for 15 years or more and swear by it for worms, but it will not take care of flea and tick problems.
I was told by an old timer that if you treated the ground for fleas that you would not have to put anything on the dogs.Because the dog is only the feed for the flea. I treat my pens with flea and tick granules and yes diesal and have not had nearly the flea and tick problems that I use to have.
