Bumps in Ears

Ok guys tell me what you think. I have a hound who I had noticed was losing hair on his ears, after closer inspection there were little bumps all over them which felt as if they were inside the ear itself. I treated with Ivomec .10 in each ear for the heck of it in case of mites, then plastered his ears every two days with neosporin or bag balm. No blisters, no scabs. hair loss is not circular patches. Do you think black flys? Or some other underlying problem. No other symptoms. He is his regular old immature self! This one has me stumped. Seems to be a bit better but I cant understand why the lumps would be inside the ear flap, as in when you hold his ear you can feel it from either side.
Thank ya

Did he run in the bush this spring? Probably a fungus infection coming to maturity. Seems to be what happens most in beagle ears. Carolyn

Kinda what I said on the other board!:D
Sounds like Dew (poisoning a fungus type thing) treat it with a good antifungal Cream or lotion like Lotrimin and see if that takes care of the problem
Another thing is Not all dogs get this! We have seen 2 out of 6 get it all were runnin in thesame place to. My Vet in OR (also a houndsman) said that it was common in real Wet areas or a real wet Spring.
Not sure if thats what it is or not But the treatment caint hurt either.

These bumps can be mosquito bites. Dogs and cats can have some sensitivities to the mosquito's bite and cause hard lumb/knot type "bumps" that can be or aren't crusty just on the bump itself. They don't seem to cause pain or discomfort or look angry and red. Some times there can be minor hair loss and other times there's not. Cats seem to be more severly affected than dogs and they can actually have open pustules or scab. The most highly affected area in dogs and cats are the top of the nose and the ear penna (flap).
I wish I still had the research I did on this, but when my puter crashed, I lost alot of stuff.
I will continue to search the web and see if I can find it.
