My little pup has a rash between her back leg and her stomach. It's REALLY red there, enough that at 1st I thought it was blood. Any ideas as to what's causing this and how to cure it? I've wiped it down a couple times w/ baby wipes but that hasn't helped much.

Probably a contact dermatitis. Baby wipes would aggrevate it. Wash with warm soapy water, keep dry. Use what you would on diaper rash- something with zinc in it. Keep clean and dry. Should go away in a few days. If not, need to look for what she is reacting to, bedding, environment, weed killer etc. Carolyn

The rash itself has gotten slightly better. There's some bumps and slight hair loss where the bumps are now. I cleaned her bedding, gave her a bath w/ 2 diff. puppy shampoos, and applied a light coat of vaseline. Also gave her .1 cc of Ivomec. Won't be running her until it clears up or I figure it out. Any other ideas? If it doesn't get better in the next day or two I'll probably take her to the vet.

The vaseline will clog the pores and may cause an acne. An antibiotic cream would be better. Still think it is contact dermatitis and probably an age and stage thing. My dogs went through this off and on over the years. My crested has a rash on ner neck which we have tied to the use of mousse (hair stiffener). She must be allergic to it and has a break out. Think along those lines. BTW, a teenager applied the mousse not me. I do have better things to do than dress the hair on my hairless dog. lol Carolyn

Well, she's gotten better. Never did figure out what it was. Heck it could have been poison ivy - i did quit running her for a week.

I find that my dogs run in the poison ivy and don't get it but then they sleep in the bed (between my legs, oh gross) and I get poison ivy rash. And it's not from peeing in the bush. I am careful about that. lol Could also have been an age and stage thing. Carolyn
