Ear mites

My beagles shake there heads a lot i have tried the ear mite stuff and some other things . The ear mite will slow the shacking down but not stop it The dogs are 6yr and 8 yr. I just moved the into a new pin 100 by 75 in hopes it was something in the ground. I bed my dogs in hay and ceader chips. Any ideas. Thanks

Do the dogs have brown stuff and a funny odour in their ears? That's yeast, usually related to diet- cheap kibble with lots of grains. Try cleaning up their diet. There are many posts about diet on this site and links to lots of information. Might be the cedar. Try removing it and using pine chips. Carolyn

I see nothing in the ears , other than the normal dirt and wax, no smell or oder. I use dimond dog food and now and then ill pick up some olroy for a change.Ill try to get a picture when i get in tonite. Thanks

Wolfman,first get some ear cleaner,clean and swab the ear best you can.Then put about 1/10 cc of ivomec in each ear.do this every 2 weeks till shaking stops,then once a month from there on.

clean the ear with a Q-Tip after puting Vinager and water solution in the ear 1 part Vinager and 3 parts water.

You need to read about dog food and quality on this site. That is probably contributing to your hounds' ear problems. Don't need any pictures because your hounds aren't in need of more than good nutrition and a little bit of ear cleaning.

Try taking them to the vet. Could be an ear infection. Just brought mine back from vets and thats what it was not the food or there bedding.

The cedar is fine, I would just change out their dog houses and then do as Lynn said and treat for ear mites. You would know if it was yeast. Try that first then try the switching of the dog food, do it slowly though. Usually you will know within a month if it clears up. If all else fails amoxicillan is good to treat for ear infections. I would just try one thing at a time though so you know which one worked. Good luck to ya!
