Back of testicles raw

Trot, my male hound has his testicles raw and chapped. The hair is worn right off the back, and they are black on the back. I don't understand why they are raw on the back, and not the bottom. The only thing I can figure is maybe they are rubbing when he is turning around in his dog house. He's a 14 1/2 inch dog, and his house is 20"X36". I built the house small to help keep him warm. Is this too small? If anybody has any ideas or past experiences on anything I can do to help them heal or alleviate the problem, I sure would appreciate it. I know building a bigger house would be an immediate solution, but it's in the dead of winter here, and the way I have them built, a larger one would take major renovations.

The box is pleanty big. Change out the bedding if you have any in it, I'd say he's pee'n in the box and the acid got him raw. The black is most likely a bloody scab.
When we took care of my brothers kids, we had some of that baby rash ointment in a tube left around here after they left, so I used it on pups that got rashes, it worked ok...

It could be the weeds and brush, if he is "physically" running backwards.
Just pokin fun.

You might want to try some bag balm. It is used on the udders of cows, (when they get chapped) and can be bought at Wal-Mart. It comes in a square green metal can, and is thick like salve.
