The problem with injecting ivermectin is that it stings and burns BADLY! It is so much easier to give it in a little canned food or just squirt it into the mouth instead.

Ive always injected mine, but your saying that instead of injecting the same bottle I can give it orally. If this is true then life will be a little easier.

Yes, you can give the same ivermectin orally that you inject (but you can't necessary inject something that is made to give orally or topically). I find it much easier to just squirt it in the mouth and then give a treat. It does taste bad, but the treat helps. This way, I don't have to worry about double dosing a dog that may get the others dose when mixed with food.
The oral dose also helps control fleas, ticks, mites, lice, intestinal worms, viseral worms, ect, not just heartworm. You really shouldn't need any thing else for worming except a pyrantal pamoate based wormer for treating worms which ivermectin doesn't get (whip worm, I think it is).

I give my dogs the Ivomec orally. I simply mix it with a little beef broth, or if broth isn't handy, I mix a little milk with it, and shake the syringe up, the dogs practically suck the stuff right out of the syringe.
