I sold a pup to a friend of mine and she has been wormed and her shots. She is 8 weeks old and appears to be very healthy. She will be walking along and loose control of her back legs and fall on her side. After a few minutes she will get up and act fine. The runt in this litter also has this happening and acts like her motor reflexes are not normal. Does anyone know anything about this or have any suggestions?

Check for ticks on th spine and are you feeding them macadamia nuts or other nuts?
If not any of this, probably seizures and its inherited and either epileptic or caused by a sugar inbalance and can be handled by giving sugar.

Im with Alabama John on this one. I would guess sugar related siezures. If you get a sample bottle of maple syrup to rub on the gums they should come out of it. Most likely will always have the issue. Best to have her seen by the vets.
You said this pup was the runt? Did she ever get chilled because mom was trying to reject her? When the mom pushes pups away and they get chilled and the puppy will get hypoglycemic and dehydrated. If they are not warmed up slowly it causes more harm than good. I do believe that this is also related to seizures later in life and that it is not just a genetics. (although some I am sure is genetics) Of course this is a theory that I am trying to substanciate. I think once the liver glycogen drops that if it hits a dangerous level there will be problems later in life after being deprived of the normal even for a little amount of time. Not to say this is what happened but it is also a thought after mentioning she was the runt.
