You don't have a syringe with enough lines! You need a 1cc syringe with TEN lines. Even at that dose, you are WELL overdosing for heartworms at 0.1cc per month. Get another syringe.
Using the "ten line" 1cc syringe you will give ONE TINY line, or a tenth (0.1cc) for any beagle.
Make sure they test heartworm negative FIRST. You never want to use prevention without making sure EVERYONE IS NEGATIVE first. Number one, it can be fatal, and number two, it is wasteful to use prevention for something the dog already has...But reason number one is the most important.
0.1 cc will treat up to a hundred pound dog for heartworms. If you want to cover mites and such the dose is 0.1cc for every 10 pounds, but the dose is much lower for heartworm prevention.(MUCH, MUCH lower...anyway)
I've used ivomec for sarcoptic mange (scabies) once a week for four weeks. I prefer to give it subcutaneously (just under the skin) because it tastes so bad I want to make sure the dog gets all of it.
