I talked to my vet last Thursday or Friday and he told me that they no longer give the shot, just the pill. I have been taking my dogs to the vet and they get one shot that lasts 6 months at a time. The shot cost $16 and some change per shot. My question is now that I have to switch to a pill what is the best out there? Price and availability?

Thanks

My vet mixes Ivomec with a multivitamin in a liquid formula that I get 1cc per 20lbs of body weight. I think he charged me $16 or $20 for the bottle that I have had for about 6 months now and I have been giving it to 2 dogs. Same with the Pyrantel (which are both the ingredients in Heartguard Plus) except for the Pyrantel is about $10 for the same size bottle. I should note that the Pyrantel isn't mixed with a multivitamin. Sure beats paying for the brand name stuff.....

Thqnks Emery, that is what I'll go back to doing. I used to give ivormec orally to my dogs just mix it with alittle cool-aid to get them to swallow it.

there are a lot of preventitives out there that work great. i would say the BEST one is the one that you actually use!! sounds stupid, but a lot of guys dont use anything.

I started using this medication when we only had three dogs. Now I am using Ivomec during the months of May - October. There are plenty of links like this one out there. I had a really good one some time ago while researching some information I had found, but lost the other link.
