I ususally breed around the 11th or 12th day from when she started bleeding. It still depends on the dog though - some don't really start bleeding until they are ready to breed - check her with a male and if she flags her tail off to the side she's ready.

If this helps I always breed the third day the girl will stand and then every second day after that so that I do 3 matings. I have rarely had my girls miss unless there has been a problem with the male.
I have been successfully breeding since 1972.

can you leave your dog there a few days? i have chain link runs and just kennel them together for 10 or 12 days and let nature take its course. just got to watch out for fighting, but i think this is the best way to make sure your female gets bred.

Breeding anymore than every other day is a waste!
Once the female will stand for the male breed her every other day until she wont stand anymore and you will be fine.

Go to http://www.geocities.com/samlyn0001
Then go to links
at the bottom of the page is a pregnancy calender
Plug in the sire the dam and the first date of mating. This will give you an idea of what to expect and date of whelp.

The purpose behind breeding every other day is to enhance the chances of a fertile mating. Usually breeding 48 hours after the first mating will do this.

Good luck to you and your future litter!

According to a vet friend of mine a bitch dropes fresh eggs every 48 hours.I breed on the 10 day and then every other day for 3 matings.Been
doing this for 20+ years and never had 1 miss using this mythod. Also I always bring the bitch to the male.It seems it don't take him long this way
cause he knows where he's at and don't spend time checking out a new place.Just my 2 cents worth!!!
