Dr. S
I took Mikey to the local vet near my home. He agrees that Mikey should have only one potassium bromide a day, and only two phenobarbs to see how Mikey does on that dosage. Dr. C plans to take gradually wean Mikey from the phenobarb until he will only need thepotassium bromide.
Thank you for all you help and input.
I am going to Miami tomorrow. Will be home Sunday (short trip fro sure) long A caring friend is going to take care of Mikey while I am gone.

Mikey is on track
Mikey's new vet (very close to where I live) has reduced Mikey's phenobarb to one half pill a day. He gets one K2B a day. Dr. C wants to see him next Wed in hopes he can take away the rest of the Phenobarb. Mikey walks well, is no longer drugged. Takes walks on his lease.
I can't thank you enough for getting me on the right track with my boy.

By re-reading the beginning of this post it made me think some more. I have been rolling this idea around in my head. I know that alot of information shows that seizures have a genetic link, But......
I also know that if a dog has low blood sugar that this can cause seizures, and if malnurished or off their feed this could also happen just as with humans. And newborn pups if off from nursing for a period of time due to getting chilled or other issues they become hypoglycemic and dehydrated.
So what would be a good time frame to revive the weak pup in? Im wondering if you exceed a certain amount of time wether it would cause more damage than good by bringing the pup back by warming ect.? If the liver glycogen isnt restored in time do you think that it would be likely that it would cause a long term damage for later in life? Thus causing seizures to happen, same as if a dog has been malnurished and the blood sugar has been low for a leangth of time?
