Diet Dog Food

Post by hermes5187 »

I was just wondering if you could tell me what the best diet dog food. I have a VERY overweight beagle and its essential to get some weight off of him. He's not really active and his very difficult on walks, so he doesn't get out as much as he should. We've heard science diet is pretty good, but I was just curious what else might work. Thanks

How old is this dog? Some will tell you to offer a senior food, but new research is indicating using a high protein, low fat/carb diet for weight loss (kinda like the atkins diet for people).
The purpose is to keep muscle tone and prevent carbs from being stored as fat.
Here is some info that may help:

You could offer this dog a diet of a small amount of kibble, supplemented with cooked or raw meat. Make sure that the kibble is meat-based and has very little grains or carbs.
Education, Preservation, and Conservation ensures a "WILD" future for our children!
