As a heartworm preventive it don't matter what the dog weighs you only need to use 1/10cc monthly. If you are using it for other worming purposes
then use 1/10cc per 10lbs. body weight.
This is the way my vet instructed me to use it.

I use 1/10 CC per 10 lb dog weight on the 1st of each month. I went to the drugstore and told the pharmist what I was doing and he gave me a 10 CC syringe with a removeable needle. I load the syringe and remove the needle and squirt it into the dogs mouth (on the roof) the dogs just lick it off like it has no taste.
If you are using a 10cc syringe you are overdosing your dogs.
You need a 1cc syringe, and you give 1/10 of that, up to the FIRST line, 0.1cc.
If you are giving 1cc you are giving 100x the recommended dosage, WHICH is already an overdose. (long story, but for heartworm prevention you actually use LESS than 1/10 of a cc, but for ease of dosing, stick with the 1/10 cc rule, and yes, 1/10 of a cc will treat 100 pounds of dog, so beagles getting 1/10 of a cc monthly should be fine against heartworms...)
there is no way to acurately measure 0.1cc on a 10cc syringe. Get a smaller syringe.
Maybe that was a typo, and you are using a 1.0cc syringe, NOT a 10cc syringe.
