Ear issues please help

Post by zjamesmoore »

I bought this 2 and 1/2 year old female last month she looks very healthy in most ways but she continued to shake her head and use her hind leg to scratch at her ears which were wet inside. I made a couple calls around and was told to clean her ears out each evening with peroxide and a q-tip then dry them with alcohol which I did for about a week but her ear were clearly still bothering her. So I thought it must be ear mites so I purchased this stuff made by SENTRY HC called Ear Miticide which is supposed to kill ear mites I used it for about 8 days but there was no improvement. So I made a few call around and was told to try putting 1/2 CC of ivomec in each ear and if that didn't work try it once again about a week later which I did to no avail. So I bought this stuff that a local vet makes called OTOCARE which contains propylene, glycol, dexamethazone, and dmso it seemed to do nothing but irritate her ears further. So I bought this stuff called DOC`S CLEAN OUT EAR REMEDY from my local feed store which is supposed cure ear mites, ear canker, ringworm and mange it contains sulphur, lime, dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate I'm still in my first week of use but so far I have not seen much improvement. Any help would be much appreciated thanks Zach

Hard to follow all that!

I use half Apple Cider Vinegar, half clear Rubbing Alcohol and add Iodine to color it pink. All can be bought at a grocery store. This goes inside the ear while vigorously massaging the lower ear lobe and adding to get it down where needed.

Then for the outside, put used motor oil, the older the better (older has more sulfur) all over the ear, both sides.

Usually only takes one treatment but in case, do it twice with 2 days between.

Good Luck!
