Sulfa-Max III For Coccidiosis

Post by Joe.R »

32.1 gm Sulfamethazine Sustained ? This is intented for Calves,
will be safe to give to the beagles for Coccidiosis, the dosage says
give one bolus per 50 lbs, will be ok to give 1/2 for 25 lbs,

I hate to say it, but WHY? Sulfa antibiotics are extremely inexpensive as is Corid(amprolium) liquid. I would be afraid to even attempt to titrate a dose of the SR calf boluses for dogs.

Thanks Doc, Corid-Amprolium-Liquid, 9.6 % solution, says 1 oz per 100 lbs, body wt for prevention, one 1/4 oz will be ok for a Beagle?

Thanks again Doc.

I usually mix 5ml per 1 gallon of drinking water and give it to the hounds once or twice each year as a preventative. Seems running dogs drink so much crappy water in the field that coccidiosis is somewhat ubiquitous.
