Dog has loss controll of rear end
A friend call about a five year old male he has that is down in his hips. He has no controll over either leg. All came on suddently. Any suggestions as to what might be the problem?
Re: Dog has loss controll of rear end
he has a back trouble slip disk -or he has coon hound paralysis--this is seen in coon hounds more than other breeds
ALWAY GO BY THE RULES AND NEVER A PROBLEM

coon hound paralysis comes from the syliva of a coon .. dogs mainley catch it from fighting a coon. makes them loose control of their body.. my buddy had a male plot get it and we built a sling to put him in and kept him in the basement and he pulled through.. really lost his voice and if i ever have it happen again i'll probably just put the dog down..

Re: Dog has loss controll of rear end
Ive seen the anal glans get so infected that a dog is weak and wobbly in the back end, but not total loss of control.

A couple years ago I had adog go down in his hips all he could do was drag, took him to the vet and he said he had a slip disk. He gave him a shot and put him on some pills for inflamation so it could go back into place. It got better but never got 100%.
Sit back and let'um pound the ground!!
Re: Dog has loss controll of rear end
I have had 2 seperate females that lost total control of hind legs due to lyme. The vet was convinced it was a disk but it wasn't. I'd see a vet as there could be several valid causes by the time you troubleshoot it could be much worse.
