I have been raising and hunting Beagles for over 40 yrs.and the best and safest way to get rid of the fleas on 1 week old pups is wash in Dawn dish washing liquid and then put straight white vinager on the dam and pups.Remove and replace all straw or hay bedding and replace with cedar chips.THIS WORKS IMMEDIATELY.

I agree that dawn dish washing liquid is the best. There is also a new product on the market that is all organic. It is a spray made from Cedar, lavender, and a couple inert ingredients. I would be extremely careful with deticumilus earth. It is exactly what grim said it is. The bad thing about it is that it is a silica that can cause serious damage to their lungs. My vet does not recommend this at all even though some of the labels list it. The label also says do not breath the product in as it can cause damage to human lungs. Just be careful and ask your vet.

Yes use the white vinegar. Also works for ear mites when mixed with rubbing alcohol.
