foggy eyes

Post by wvhunter »

I had a female in a trial 2 weeks ago and apparently she poked her eye on a thorn or stick and now her looks creamy blue with a tiny white dot in the center. Plus her eye is blood shot. Will she recover from this, what can I do?

I had one with a similar injury. It happened durring hunting season and I am not sure if it was a thorn or a stray pellet. The eye healed fine and the blue cast mostly went away but she still has scar tissue in the very center. At first, she seemed to have very little vision in that eye but I think she has partial vision now. She still gets around fine and runs but she has not been quite as aggressive in her running since.

That sounds like a corneal ulcer to me, get some triple anti-biotic opthalmic ointment and it will clear it up pretty quick. They can get them from almost anything that gets in the dogs eye, I had to get the ointment from my vet.

I put eye drops in their eyes after a long hunt in a briar patch. If it's just a short run or a long one in the open I don't, but after running a few hours in the briar patch I do.
