Re: CUTTING KENNEL COSTS AND MEDICINE
Noromectin is the exact same active ingredient as in Ivomec (ivermectin). The difference is the inactive chemicals (the carriers). It doesn't quiet work as fast, but does the same job (this is based on using it for cattle and swine, I am sure dogs are the same). Most of it right now is less than $5 per 50cc cheaper, so I am not sure it is really worth it. Having said that, the price of the Noromectin and other generic I vomecs should be down about 15% this year, according to what I have been told at trade shows. May be worth the diffence then.

Is Ivermectin for heartworms only? Heartworms is not very prevalant here in VT. I am using Safeguard for intestinal worms and treating my hounds with Frontline from May-October. Sometimes I read everything that people do and I feel like I may be missing something. Do I have it all?Windkist wrote:Using Ivermectin (injectable) is as safe as heatguard or any of the other more expensive products. Ivermectin is the main ingredient in all of these. Studies show it to be very safe for dogs other than some collie breeds. I give 1/10th of a CC once per month on a dog biscuit. I do not mix it with anything at all.
