Sergeants Gold causes toxic dog

My husband put Sergents Gold Flea/Tick Treatment on my 1 yr. old Beagle yesterday. I almost lost her. She was allergic to it and may have ingested some of it by scratching then licking her foot. At any rate I rushed her to the vet. She was toxic when I got her there (we're an hour away). After IV fluids and charcoal at the vet, and feeling miserable util 3 a.m. this morning she is now okay. He said that a lot of dogs have a problem this particular brand and he did not recommend ever using it. He warned me to watch out for anything with permethrin in it. I know we'll never ever use it again!!!
