equimax question
I've been reading some previous post on equimax. I've used use ivermectin monthly for years and seen no ill effects. Most vets will tell you ivermectin will work, but don't want you to use a cheaper form.(cattle wormer). I'm thinking of using equimax for tapes, but the back of the box it says can cause severe adverse reactions or death in dogs. Has anyone used equimax over an extended period of time? With what results?
Keep the best, cull the rest!

Re: equimax question
I used it to treat tapes . Worked fine no adverse effects. Doesn't take much ,just a pea size on the end of your finger. Heard alot say not to give to a pup under 6 months , but mine where 4 months old and it didn't hurt them
Re: equimax question
I use it without any issues.

Re: equimax question
I use it a couple times a year just to get tapes and never had a problem. I just wormed two of mine last week with it and they're still kicking!
Re: equimax question
I've used it successfully for about a year now. It's worked perfectly the first time I've seen signs of tape, and has only needed one treatment. I had a hound sent to me that had tape pretty bad. I got him on a Thurs. and treated him Fri. and he won a LPH trial on the Sunday, so it didn't affect him adversely in any way.
Re: equimax question
Good info, but since it is only about 14% praziquantel which is what kills the tapes, you need to use 1/2 cc for the average 25 pound beagle. Do the calculations by reading what is recommended for prazi, 135 mg per 50 pounds of dog. One gram (about 1 cc or ml) of equimax provides 140 mg of prazi.
