I put it between the shoulder blades where the dog will not be able to lick it.

Put it between the shoulder blades, just like you would Frontline. Right about where you would meaure a dogs height. Some people that use 3-4cc run a line going from the base of the tail to the neck, but I just use about 1cc at the top of the shoulder blades.

I know this is a silly question but.......just how does putting it there control fleas and ticks on the whole dog?? I know it does but curious as to how that is.

Just like Frontline and a lot of other topical flea/tick applications, it's absorbed into the skin and spreads throughout the entire dog.

Dag gone, I ran this a.m. and have already pulled 3 off me, shoulda put a couple ccs on me

I am sure it takes some time to soak in and do the job. I wouldn't get too discouraged yet. I keep a bottle with gas in it that I drop them in when I pick them off the dogs and I have seen them still kicking 1/2 and hour later so I'd say they are pretty tough little buggers.

Only mentions this (Imidacloprid)used as flea control...In the body, 96% of the chemical is eliminated within 48 hours; the most important degradation product in the body is 6-chloronicotinic acid, another nicotinic neurotoxin with similar properties. Imidacloprid has, however, been reported to degrade into toxic, persistent, 2-chloropyridine.

they add permethrin to their Advantrix which their advertising includes ticks and mosquitoes ...

Wonder if one of the degradation products is what kills ticks?

MoBeagler,
Did it kill those ticks?

I applied it to my dogs and it drastically cut down on the # of ticks I found on my dogs after the next run. I found maybe 2 -3 per dog to where as before I would find 10 or so after running in this same area. The ones that I found were not embedded like they were before I applied Bayer Advanced T&S. I applied it and ran 2 days after I applied it.

Steve...I have been using another product named Spotton and made by Bayer...This product was designed for live stock... I have used it for years with great success...but it has now been discontinued... I am on my last bottle of Spotton and will be trying the Tree and Shrub soon...

To keep the ticks off of you...try a product that is also found at Wal-mart....It works great...

This is what I have been using for about two years now. It was recomended by a great outdoors man named Tony JR.

Get it and follow the instrunctions and you too will be tick free....

Cain - I remember reading your website years ago about the Spotton and thinking to myself that it must be good stuff and it's too bad they discontinued it.

I use the exact Repel you posted, in fact, just bought a new can today! It works real well.
