Re: bleeding from colon
Its absolutely NOT normal for a dog to bleed from the rectum. Take a stool sample to the vet first and see if she needs worming. Or just worm her. she must be a blue and has alopecia where the dilute color is. Here is a site that explains the problem. http://www.italiangreyhound.org/health/cda.htmlJAMES ROLLINS wrote:I got a young dog from a friend yesterday, he said after you run her she bleeds from her colon, has anyone heard of this befor. i just figured she had some type of parrisite??

Not to be rude but, this sounds like a genetic mess. I would not breed this dog.

I would be tempted to say she may have some thyroid issues (with the thinning hair), but can't be sure how to answer you with the bleeding issue. I'd really need to know a bit more about the problem. It may be Giardia, but it could just be stress-induced colitis.
Tell me more about the hair problem. Where is the hair loss (on her body actually). Is it along her sides/back area? These two problems could be related, if it is in fact an immune function disorder.

I wormed her today. she acts fine, just a normal young dog. happy go lucky. he told me about the bleeding. it occured 6 months ago after he took her to the woods. she will be 2 in sept. and to my knowledge it hasnt accured again. but he hasnt took her out since.
her hair loss is only along her back, only where the blk hair is.
i just talked to org owner he said it happened twice, both times after he ran her.
