blood in stool

Here is what I am feeding my male right now and it seems to be working as far as reducing the diareah..
1/2 cup of Purina Beneful...I am feeding this to get the effects of a vegetable protein in his diet...
1/4 cup Hi Standard-Hi Energy...26/18..feeding this for the Protein,fats and energy...
1 cup of burger and rice.......seems to be helping to reduce the inconsistency of the stool....

As for running him...He is run 3-5 times per week at 3-5 hours per day....His coat is remaining shiny and smooth....His tempermant is consistant and maybe even calmer a bit...
His energy level has increased and his stamina has increased also...

Took him to 2 trials last weekend...He made the winners packs in both of them..picked up 6th on ther Friday trial...Then on saturday..made the winners pack and placed 4th....Wow was I ever proud of him...He may not have won but for him to place after all he has gone through health wise..I was happy as if he had won.

Will keep you posted on his performance...

That's fantastic! Doesn't it make you feel good to see the ones that struggle do well

Ya know, as far as what your boy is eating, I think I would find something for fiber and carbs, besides the Beneful

It has so much artifical JUNK (colors, preservatives, by-products, etc) in it, that in itself could cause some problems.
You could instead add some green beans (low sodium of course), cooked oatmeal (great for digestive upsets and for skin), cooked carrots (great for betacarotene), sweet potato's (WONDERFUL!!!!!), etc. This would be a healthy and nutritious addition to his base kibble. Use no more than 25% enhancements in addition to kibble or you will throw off the nutritional balance. So, you could feed 3/4 cup kibble and 1/4 cup additives (including any raw or cooked meat you are adding). The calcium and phosphorus ratio is very delicate and if out of balance, can affect the uptake of many other vitamins and minerals, not to mention causing a deficency or abundance.

Hey, but if it's working, you might not want to fix it

Bunny don't know just passing on for him and general info for me, so what your saying you think that the Safe guard will take care of his problem like Panacure? or just use the panacure?

Thanks Bunnie...You know..I never even thought about the dyes in the foods of Beneful.....
Will keep a close eye on that...
I like your ideas about the green beens and oatmeal...

At the trial that my boy placed..the judges absolutely loved him,,,,they had 3 sets of scores for checks on him as double checks....He had just started to get tired...then they called to have him picked up 4th..and he picked the check and drove the rabbit and led the pack almost 100yrds before they caught him....It was alot of fun....
I told the judges that he only needed 1 win and points to finish and they agreed he was worth it....

Going to a Sanct. trial this Sunday here in NY....Will let you know how he does...If this snow lets up we will run tomorrow morning and everyday until Saturday when he will get a short 1 hour run and then spend the rest of the day in the house being spoiled....boy he loves that.

IMO, he could just use the safeguard OR the valbazen (one or the other), but there's no reason to really use both. The active ingredient in both products are so very similar, why use both? I think it's a bit of an overkill and a waste of money.

I believe some get really carried away with the deworming schedule being once a month. I don't normally deworm unless I see a problem and that is rare, but I do deworm a couple of times a year for maintence (other than heartworm preventative). Also, by using the least toxic ingredient that works for your situation is probably a better idea than a product that wipes out everything!

Panacur and Safeguard are the same thing. Fenbendazole.

Well guy's get this he got all 3 of his hounds back from a stool sample it cost 8.00 ea total of 24.00 $$ plus uncle Sam to find out that 1 of his hounds had eaten some cedar shavings and had splintered or scratched it's throat causing irritation no worms was found. ya never know but better to be safe and a new one on me.

It is his money not mine is all i can say.

Windkist i have never used Panacur so i don't know any thing about it, so thats why i ask, i only use Safe Guard paste with Fenbendazole and i am familiar with VALBAZEN which i did know had the Fenbendazole in it to, but thanks for all the info i just thought being that a topic similar was going i would jump in here and ask a question that had me puzzled.
