Well when a dog has a swollen foot. You can do 2 things for it.
epsen salt works great to soak it. It only takes about 5 min of soaking it to make a difference.
Bleach water works great too becuase it will kill any bacteria or fungus. It is used more in horse than dogs but it will kill hoof rot in horses feet and my vet said it will kill a fungus. 14 cups of water to 1 cup of bleach. I found that a cat litter pan works great to do the soaking in.

Me and dad do the same thing. We soak their feet in Epson Salt but we then put tough pad on their feet. It works really good.

Does it seem like it is the pad or in the joint/bones of the foot.

I had a dog hurt a leg last year.
It took him months to get over it.
I'm not sure if it was a knee, hip, or foot bone.
He would let you move his foot anyway, press on it, and never flinched.
He was hurt in April and didn't really start running good again until about 3 months later.

He would seem better for a while, then start carrying the leg.
I just ran him enough to keep him exercised, but would keep him home when going out for a long time or in rough country.

I also do the salt trick. Can put some Happy Jack Pad Kote on the pad too.
