Dogs can get tonsilitis. One of mine had to have his removed. You might have a vet take a look just to be sure its not something else though.

Dogs can also get strep throat if your dog has been around someone with strep throat they can contract that as well, this is something most don't know about, however it is contagious to dogs and can kill them if not taken care of.
From Field to Show and Show to Field the way it should be

One of my cousin's male's just went through this coughing thing. Took him to the Vet. If your dog has a consistant cough it could be bronchitis and the swelling/redness is a result of the coughing. If it is bronchitis it's very contagious to other dogs and you should isolate this one. The Vet. prescribed antibiotics so that should work. I believe it took several days for my cousin's male to clear up.

ou may want to try a child does of Robitussin DM.It will help control the cough and help the throat heal faster ,sound like it could be Bronchitis. It may also be anal gland trouble, has she been licking at her behind alot if so this also irritates the mouth and throat, you will have to expres her glands or take to the vet and have it done.Hope this helps

Here is some info on that antibiotic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clindamycin I doubt it will help it much unless its infected. I would do the biopsy and see if it were cancerous. If its not then remove it. If it is the kindest thing might be to say g'night. Its definately a personal decision and not one made lightly ;-)

I agree with Windkist and wonder why the VET would prescribe an antibiotic if he diagnosed a carcinoma unless he wasn't sure and was treating the leison as though it was some kind of benign tumor or infection.

DONT FULLY UNDERSTAND IT EITHER, NEVER HEARD OF A TUMOR IN THE ROOF OF THE MOUTH.IM THINKING HE REALLY DOSNT KNOW WHAT IT IS, THATS WHY HE WANTS TO DO THE BYOPSY.SEEMS LIKE SHE IS BREATHING BETTER, SO WE LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS THE NEXT FEW DAYS.WE VE KEPT HER IN THE HOUSE ALL WEEK, AMAZING SHE IS A BETTER HOUSE DOG THEN OR LAB, WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED.
