Where do you get the Amoxicilian at???

My vet wants $160 for it. I told him he can go pound sand.

I was there tonight and he said the bands don't work i said i've seen pictures of dogs that have had it done and he shut up right there.

I order my amoxi at http://www.revivalanimal.com its made for fish but, its exactly the same as you get at a human pharmacy. 250mg. I have also ordered it at http://www.americaneaglebreeders.com/index2.html they will want a name of someone who told you about them and they only take orders by phone but, the product is good. Its really an important drug to keep on hand. That as well as metronidazole (flagyl)

Some vets will charge whatever they think they can. A lady friend took her mutt to one of those weekend emergency vets with a little cut on its pad. They put in a couple of stitches and handed her a bill for $450.

sacandaga dog supply also has the amoxicillin. i keep some on hand at all times. im giving mine the antibiotics while the band is on...just to be safe. i used the banding tool to put mine on, borrowed it from my uncle. but you could probably use your fingers. they're extremely tight and you might have to wrestle with it longer than if you had the tool, but im sure you can get it done.

You might find the fish-mox at a pet store but, I'd just order it. Only takes a couple of days and you get 100 capsules. We occasionally have a dog fight here and of course they have to puncture ears so, I use it for that. If there is a fight I don't wait if there are wounds. I just run them on it for 7 days. A dog that is feeling down or has a slight temp etc. My family uses it too. Sinus infection, sore throat etc. Probably shouldn't but, we have for 20 years and we are all healthy ;-) Just make sure you dose it correctly. Its pharmacutical grade so, its safe.

You can get the Fish Mox on Ebay very cheap.

I use it for 10 days during Whelping. From 57 days until 5 days after the puppies are born.

Why at that time Mike? I will sometimes run a bitch in heat for 7 days but, not one that is ready to whelp unless there is a problem. I find that antibiotics give the puppies diarrhea.

PS: I checked ebay prices and they are high as compared to revival. 100 amoxicillin 250mg on revival is 13.99 I believe its less at americaneaglebreeders but, I didn't go look. Ebay sellers are asking almost 20.00 plus shipping. Its more economical to order 2 bottles. I keep them in the freezer. You can order the metronidazole as well which is really good for diarrhea.

I agree 100% with Steve, everything he said above is what I have experienced. Someone above said they would not do it adult dogs, I have done it a 6 yr old without a problem. They do work, and are alot cheaper that a vet visit. If your relationship with your vet is good, if ou have question give him a call and he can talk you through it. Sean

I give the Amoxicilin at whelping to keep the bitch from developing an infection from whelping,so it dont go through the milk.

I also give it because a fellow beagler that has raised dozens of litters said it was the thing to do, and my Vet said it was a good precaution.
