has anybody used this yet and whats the dosage you put on your dog,,,,,,,,

Jason Kidd uses it. Here is his response to that some question (from the message board at Southern Beagles): Gary.... I put 1cc of it on there back once a month. Works for me....

My understanding is that the one they are using is NOT a spray. It is a 32 oz. "pour on" for ground treatment around the dripline (1.47 % active ingredient).

I am using it just like Kidd. I have had a terrible flea problem the last few years. I have used every remedy, garlic, twentymule team borax, 10% Sevin, Malathion, and sprayed my kennels with about all the name brand lawn treatments. The fleas just laughed at me. Last year I filled a plastic tub with water and added dishwashing detergent and dipped the dogs every three days. It killed the fleas but they would be back in force.
I started using the Bayer Tree and Shrub about two months ago. The fleas are gone. I see one occasionally but I suspect they are still hatching out from last year. I have a a big grassy dog pen so it may take some time to kill all of them. It's the best economical product that I have used.

I upped my dosage to 3 cc. Works out to about what Advantix would do as far as the active ingredient. My huntin' buddy has 30 dogs and a bad flea problem. I just gave him half of my stuff and we'll see if it works for him. I've seen no fleas at all and very few ticks since starting to use it. Might be better to put a lid on posting too much about it and just use PM or they will raise the price on it.

I read the toxic report of the active agent in Bayer. It may cause problems with reproduction and some of the inert ingredients can cause cancer

At what concentration were those problems? At 1.47% concentration of "Merit" that is only 0.0147 CC and that is placed on the skin - not ingested nor injected. I bet many beagles come in contact with larger doses of more harmful substances practically everytime they are cast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For me exposure to fleas and the tapeworms they carry is worse than three treatments a year of flea control. In fact, if you use advantage or advantix, their concentration of Merit is 5 to 10% according to the MSDS provided by Bayer. Over 3 (and up to 7) times as concentrated as the Tree and Shrub!

The one i was worried about was the inert ingrediant in bayer tree and shrub that causes cancer. I don,t believe it is in advantix.Reproduction problems were at higher doses.

Thanks for the heads up on the cancer thing Jamie! I will have to check that out before next flea season! I though enert ingredients were "inactive"??????????????????? If they cause cancer at less than one cc, it looks like Bayer would try to find something else to replace them with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My bet is that the link to cancer was established by a MUCH higer level of exposure. I still puzzle over the geniuses who determined that feeding a rat his body weight of ANYTHING daily had any significance for HUMANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

inert in chemicals usually means not active as the main chemical. They use products that can be dangerous to help out the active ingredient. (not wash away, stick better, etc.)

i have tried it. i had goodluck with it and have seen very few fleas. no problems with any of the hounds i put it on. i used a couple tablespoons and put it on their chest and back where they can't get to it if they try to lick it off.
