Hello, I have a 9 week old female beagle bluetick pup whose front legs shake every now and again when she is sitting. My local vet said it could be something to do witht he front leg bone knuckling over and hopes that she will grow out of it or it could be a neurological thing. Ever have any experience with a similar problem? It dosen't seem to happen very often but I am concerned about it just the same.
Thanks,
Todd
puppy front legs shake periodically

I don't know if one of mine has the same "problem," but he'll shake one of his front legs occasionally when sitting (sometimes it's the right one, sometimes it's the left). I've asked about it, and no vet was ever concerned. I think it's just a nervous habit of his...some dogs lick their chops a lot, some dogs bark or whine, etc. He just happens to jiggle a leg once in awhile and has done so for years.
Put 25 people sitting in a room, and I guarantee you that a few of them will start shaking a leg, too! And then there are other ways people fidget without noticing. So with my dog, I don't think it's a problem. But I don't remember at what age it started, and I can't say for sure it's the same thing your pup is doing. I wouldn't think a dog would have developed a "habit" like that at 9 weeks, but pups that age can still be awkward when it comes to balance, so maybe that's part of it.
Hopefully it's something that will go away as he gets stronger and older.
