Sounds like a contact/environmental allergy or sensitivity. What type of surrounding are they in (ie: bedding, kennel, etc)? Has there been any pesticides or weed killers sprayed any where they have been lately? What type of food are they eating? Any cleaners that are being used in their area?
Are they licking at the feet and/or legs? Scratching or chewing?
If you can provide more details, maybe we can figure it out,

If he is running them in the mornings this summer, it is likely "dew poisoning". It is self-limiting and will clear up this fall or when he stops running them when the is dew on the foliage. The other possibility poison oak, summac, etc. However, my experience is that most beagles are not very sensitive to those sorts of things. They just get it on their coat and pass it to you when you pick them up to load them up after a run. Good luck to you, your friend, and the pups!

I have a male and female that also get like that. Usually is looks like pimples with yellow puss that comes out, located on belly and legs. I figured they get it from the brush and its only in the summer not fall. But my wife today me this morning that the female has it real bad. Went out and looked it was really bad around the back, bottom side of the ears. It;s real yellow lookin with some redness. Seems to be oozing puss because the hair is wet and stiff. She is outside giving a her a bath right now. And it is from running her the other morning in a heavy dew. Gonna watch it for now but if it gets worse I will take her to the vet. I don't believe its the mange, heck I've never seen the mange. They are on the ground with metal kennels and concrete floors so I don't think its the living conditions.
With the pimples and pus I would guess its turned into a staph infection. At the very least you should probably bathe those areas daily with a medicated shampoo and get her on some Amoxi. If you don't have any on hand you can order it from http://www.revivalanimal.com Its one of the things we keep on hand here at all times. Dosage is 1 capusule twice per day for 7-10 daysBAYOU wrote:I have a male and female that also get like that. Usually is looks like pimples with yellow puss that comes out, located on belly and legs. Food also can cause some allergies. Try eliminating wheat and corn from the diet. We used Nutro ULTRA when we had a dog that seemed sensitive.

The symptoms you have described sounds like it is dew poisoning do thier Ears look like they are Swelled any around the bottom hair fallin out in little clumps if so Dew poison!OR have you been Runnin in any WILD ROSE??? It could be an Alergic reaction to the toxin in the thorns We have one that gets this every time we run in Wild/Dixie rose to clear it up quickly, wash affected area with soap and water and slather on Neosporin, or 3 in one anitbiotic cream. You can purchase it at any drug store or grocerie store.
From Field to Show and Show to Field the way it should be
I believe it might be the "dew poisening" or the sap in the fresh green weeds. The cover I run them in is very thick and this time of year you can barely get through it. Not too worried because it always seems to clear up. I think it is just plain "severe irratation" with all fresh briars and sap from the bushes, weeds.

I have used neosporin before and it always seems to get better. Not to be cruel but I don't go to the vet unless I have too. I'm not poor but not rich either if you know what I mean.
This discussion has me wondering now. My 4 yr old male always has a bloody tail. It hasn't healed from last hunting season, but I keep running him and just put bag balm on afterwords. But back to what I was posting about, I was talking with another beagler the other day that was telling me about a buddy of his that took his dog to the vet. The vet noticed his dogs tail was bloody and not really healing, he told him that the dog was getting piosened from the plant toxins while running. My buddy is going to ask him what the vet told him to do about it. Any one else heard of this or had any expierience with this?
