Ivermectin for ear mites

Post by coolbrze »

Anyone ever heard of this? What dose should be used for a 14 week old puppy?

From Rabbit Hunter Online:

A newer approach involves the use of Ivermectin, a broad spectrum anti-parasite medication. Ivermectin is especially helpful in cases where the patient simply will not allow topical ear treatment. Ivermectin is administered in the ear (.25 cc) three days in a row.

Work GREAT! 1/4 of a CC in each ear seems a little much. I would use a diabetic syringe and put about half that much in each ear.

.10 of a cc in each ear after cleaning them out well and repeat in two weeks. Treat all dogs. I have been using it the last two years since one of my hounds got them. Now I treat as a preventative also.

Is this 3 days in a row, or once, then 2 weeks later once again?

The vet gave me Tresaderm, but that stuff is expensive and takes forever, 2 drops a day/ear for 30 days...

You do it once and repeat in two weeks. I think the tresederm is junk. Matter of fact I still have some in my fridge. Vet gave it to treat yeast in one of my hounds two years ago. I like the Ottomax for that. ;)

I also want to add to clean out their bedding really good or you will most likely have the same problem right back again. :)

Ok thanks, she does have ear wax, I got something else for that. Right now she's a pup and is inside in a crate. It gets cleaned (409) at a min. twice a day.

When I have a litter of pups in the house in my crate I learned to love the clorox wipes. It is now a neccesity...LOL. I also put a bath mat down in the crate, stays in place better then a blanket. Good luck with your pup!

Thanks, here's a pic of her a couple weeks ago. She's now 14 1/2 weeks old and is awesome!
