What killed the dog?

Post by HNTDAD »

A friend of mine had a bitch littermate to my male. They are 9 months old and he went out to his kennel yesterday morning to find her dead. She hadn't acted sick at all. Very energetic when we ran last weekend and all through this week. What in the world could have happened to her that fast?

If I had a pup that age who had acted 100% herself and then turned up dead the next morning, the first thoughts in my head would be poisoning (either intentional or accidental) or some kind of heart defect.

Thanks. We had thought about poisoning but the other dog in the kennel was fine as were the dogs in the other kennel. We hadn't thought about a heart defect.

Look closely at the stools of the dogs kenneled near her and make sure they are normal. I have seen Parvo kill young dogs in a matter of days and you would hardly notice them going down if you were not on your toes!

Thanks, no signs of parvo. It's been about a week now and no other signs of anything. All other dogs are fine. I guess this one will remain a mystery.
