Blood in stool-what does it mean?

Post by Kelly »

Today I noticed blood in a two year old females stool just when we srarted running. She ran fine. I have been running this dog pretty hard and she is just at the tail end of her heat.I changed from Diamond to Nutro about 10-12 days ago.I also wormed with Panacur ( safe-gaurd) last week. Thanks!

An irritated colon will cause to have blood in the stool and many things could cause an irritated colon. Straining to move his bowles will tear the inner walls. Could be partial blockage from the food switch. Best way to find out is have a vet look at im.

I have seen dogs bleed after a lot of hard running. You have switched food, wormed and run your dog all in a short space of time. Too many variables to figure out what is going on. Keep an eye on the dog and if it continues/gets worse, need to ask more questions. Try some cottage cheese, natural yogurt and rice to sooth the bowels. Carolyn
