Re: Hunting vs Trialing ????
I have seen the opposite, lol. I owned a dog named Hammer Time that I swear knew the difference. He was special (don't laugh, lol) but I would let him ride shot gun in the front of the truck. When we would pull in to the running grounds or to go hunting, he was buisness as usual. Did a good j...

Re: What color is this pup?
Brown White & Tan S 066 The genes are the same for the red and tan (modifier determines the depth of color) but AKC is limited on their options so you have to get as close as you can. The 066 the color code I use for my open mark chocolates. My bloodline throws a lot of this color so I feel your pai...

Re: What color is this pup?
Where TC and I differ is the color of the blanket. I told you in my first post that the pictures were dark on my computer. With that being said I assume the color of his blanket (darker color on the back)is brown . I think TC see's it as black . If its black TC is correct. If its Brown I am. ;) The ...

Re: What color is this pup?
Better picture and definantly a chocolate tri or brown tan and white. This should help yall identify your beagles colors. The following links are to the National Beagle Club website which is where the beagle standard comes from. AKC and other registries get thier beagle standard from them. Here is t...

Re: What color is this pup?
Either my screen settings are a little dark or your picture is, but it looks like that pup has a darker colored blanket on its back (3 colors). If thats true your pup is a bown tan and white or what we call a chocolate tri or liver tri. (I am looking just behind the front shoulder on the ribs where ...

Re: Who's at fault with the Measuring?
I always pre-measure a borderline 13 inch dog in SPO. So many factors can effect how a dog measures on a given day. I have seen dogs puff up like porcupines just by walking him into a group of other males and have seen dogs belly crawl at the sight of a large crowd. The temperature effects the heigh...

Re: What registries require DNA??
I understand the UKC DNA profiles but don't have any UKC dogs and don't know if it is required or if its just an option. The NKC/ARHA does not offer testing. AKC only requires a male that has been bred 3 times in a year or 7 in a lifetime to be DNA profiled. Females are not requiered at this time al...
