I live in maine and the only time I have seen them run small circles is when it is bad senting conditions and the dogs are not putting pressure on them or sometimes real young hare will not run very big also. We only run hare no cotton tail up here to speak of.

our training season shuts down from april 1st to june 31st . so if you want to run you have to run in a pen or be an outlaw. loli run in the wild but I just hunt my dogs but if you trial your dogs I can see where running them in the pen could help them.
