Re: Running prenant bitch
I think I read that ossification occurs around day 45 so you may be right about the last two weeks. I boil and mash a lb. of chicken livers, mix with dog food and 6-8 scrambled eggs then top off a serving with half cup of cottage cheese during high stress times in the hunting season. Great for recov...

Re: Running prenant bitchl
I looked up the NuPro and its looks like quality product. My concern is the calcium pull on mom when the pups develop their bones in the last two weeks and when she has to produce milk. That's why women used to loose their teeth when they had lots of kids years ago but today we know better. Large do...

Re: Running prenant bitch
17 more days and she's hungry all the time now. Still feeding twice a day and frequent snacks of leftover meats and hardboiled eggs. She has been hunting bugs in the yard and likes the crickets. Ran well in the rain two nights ago but returned quickly when the downpour became very heavy. Lets out an...

Re: Running prenant bitch
Well she's 39 days along and I ran her last night in the wonderful rainy conditions. She didn't take long to sound off with that high pitched long howl that sounds like a dog in trouble and with the scent holding down It wasn't long until you could just barely hear her if you strained your ear. I le...

Re: Diamond natural chicken/ rice
Fed two males HI Energy for ten yrs. with no problems. I always supplement during high stress needs with extra protein. Have used the Natural Chic/Rice and stools will be softer. Jack Russel and the beagle had energy to spare on it to say the least. Good stuff.

Good story. It's amazing how your good ones turned out and how blessed we are to have them for a short while. My alpha male has been gone for 1.5 yrs. and I still miss him. Hopefully the original poster's story will help someone down the rode.

Re: Made a bad mistake this morning! What would you do?
Thirty years ago my bitch got loose and a man called from about a mile away to say he had her and she was with a male of another breed. Vet gave her a morning after pill. No litter. Your choice.

Re: 90 plus degrees driving me crazy
I'm running the pregnant bitch tonight and it's cooled down some in southeast Ohio. She'll get a couple of hrs. to run on real dry turf and woods without any thick brush. We've had drought conditions here and it's bone dry as heck. I'm new but hope to become a regular.

Re: Running prenant bitch
Years ago I hunted a bitch when she was showing pups and she got tired and had to lay down for a spell on the walk back. I told the vet that and he was not happy. This bitch started when she was 4 months 20 days. I bred her to the one male I have left from the days of my youth and I've been keeping ...

Running prenant bitch
How long do you continue running a pregnant bitch? I've been beagling since I was a pup and have a 22 month old bitch with pups that is the result of 50 yrs. of breeding. She's 26 days along so the pups should be attached to the uterus. She's ready to go when I take her out and I let her run for abo...
