Re: Tone Training

Put them on a 20-25 foot lead or rope tied to the dogs collar. Call the dog by giving him the command ( Here) as your telling the dog here pull him in to you and when he gets to you give him a treat and a good boy. Repeat this over the course of a week or two. He has to be taught the command before ...

Re: mule clothing???

I don't like slamming anyone on this board but I've used mule for the last 15 years or so. The water proof chaps have always been the best. I bought a waterproof jacket one year and it did not breath what so ever and I would be dripping wet under the jacket from sweat so if you get a jacket Or shirt...

Re: Green Bay Moon

Mike McPherson owned both those dogs. Sure and dam. I believe mike made the breeding. He is on this board from time to time. I hunted over Blazer and also watched him run in mikes pen. Suzie I may have watched run both don't remember. I'm getting old....lol....dh. Also I don't think either sire or d...

Re: Beagle starting...Questions galore!

Lone beagle, get a cheap rabbit trap and trap a rabbit. Bring the pups to the trap and tease them with the caged rabbit until they start going nuts. Then open the trap and grab the rabbit and let them get there nose full of scent then put the rabbit down and let it go in front of the pups. Do this o...

Re: no Barkin on covered track

Run her by her self and see what she does. That is the only way to know what she is doing. She maybe "ME TOOING"". Meaning she is not doing much work but will bark with the other dogs when they get rolling. Or at times i've seen very young dogs not open untill the trail gets hot. A tight mouth dog w...

Re: comment posted on Up-Coming Field Trials?????

Most LP trials here in the north east are that way. Handlers are not allowed in the running grounds. All the Spo trials allow handlers in. I like watching the running but also I have seen handlers doing some crazy things at trials. Arguing with judges, turning the rabbit, screaming taliho where ther...

Re: Video: Same Old Dogs Different Day

Wow.........I watched the entire video, 7 minutes long and the dogs did not have one break down. A lot of younger people just getting started in beagling could learn a lot watching these dogs. Now if I could just take one and breed it to a little quicker bitch or male and get pups with just a little...

Re: PVC flooring what do you think ?

I think it's worth spending a little extra money and buying the plastic coated 12 gauge lobster wire. I think Chip Eisenhut sells it for about 6 dollars per foot for the 48" wide wire and so it would cost about 50 bucks. I don't know what shipping what cost. If anyone has purchased it from chip and ...

Re: PVC flooring what do you think ?

I think it would be uncomfortable for the dogs to walk on and I also think some of the poop would get stuck in the spaces. When it does get stuck you would make a mess picking it out or pushing it thrue. If your looking for a cheap alternative try the dura- bench green house plastic flooring. Or may...

Re: Double Cross of Speedy Sport good or bad

All to often on this board you hear second and third hand information about what crosses produced or what studs produced. You really want to know what sport produced or double crosses of sport and what he mixed well with? ask Mike. Its nice to see someone get on here and give first hand info on the ...

Re: Pup Training

How old are they? I would let them be pups. Dont put too much pressure on them. They will start when they are ready regardless of what ever you try to do. Put them in the pen a few days a week with some rabbits and thats it, when the time comes they will start. After they start I run them a 3-4 days...
