Re: question about young male!!!
Sounds like a self confidence issue. I'd solo the heck out of him before giving up. Good luck.

Re: patch hounds
I know from reading the book that one of Willet's goals was making an all white dog, but according to his book, it seems to me at least, that color was secondary. I know the first patch, Patch, was an open marked tri color and he used some legendary dogs like Alibi Billy, who was a blue cap, to add ...

Re: TRITRONICS LOST COLLAR
I use 2 rubber O rings that you can get in the plumbing dept. at walmart or anywhere else. All my dogs have them on their collars. Just slide them on and tuck the end under them. It makes it impossible for them to come off, and you don't have to trim any excess length off a collar...you just slip in...

Re: Patch line control
I'm not looking for or expecting brace hound line control from her, but I need a little more than I'm getting. I'll just have to keep working with her.

Re: training a Beagle to come.
Make sure you get a tone or buzz. That is the key. I haven't had to bump my dog to get it to come since the first training session with the collar. That tone brings her running no matter what, even off a rabbit at the end of a hunt.

Re: Patch line control
Purepatchshiloh, being from OK, is your dog out of Dennis Goads dogs at SPK? I know what you mean about the point of loss. When scenting is good, it really isn't a problem. She gets back on it pretty quick, but only to overrun it again. When scenting is bad, its another story as she zig zags a littl...

Patch line control
I have a female patch that is 16 months old. She handles great, has lots of hunt...everything is perfect for me...except the line control. When I say she runs a loose line, I'm being generous. I'm not getting rid of her anyway, but I would like to know if any of you think that her line control will ...

Re: Inside or out?
I killed 3 bunnies yesterday off my indoor patch hound. She hunts and handles great. Plus, as a bonus, you can take a nap on the couch with her after the hunt. We've always had indoor beagles and wouldn't have it any other way but I understand that if you have a kennel full, it would be tough to kee...

Re: What's your opinion of .22lr vs .22wmr?
22 lr through a 22 mag will make the bullet key-hole, or tumble. The biggest difference is the price. The mag ammo can run 10 to 14 dollars a box and you know how cheap 22lr can be. I have a mag that I just refuse to buy ammo for. The lr does most things fine and if it isn't big enough, a shotgun is...

Re: running dogs mid day
I pretty much have to run when I have time, whether its the middle of day or late at night. I take care of my dog and when I feel she's had enough, we call it a day, whether she wants to or not. I will say there wasn't a whole lot to get excited about this summer since it only rained two or three ti...

Re: What would you do ??? PICS with question .
I think you should let them patch go. If you want, you can just send them up here to Pennsylvania to keep my patch company. Especially that lesage bill patch dog. Honestly now, your dogs are some of the best looking on the web, expecially those patches. Its a shame you have to get rid of some, and I...
