Re: Best Swamp water Dogs bloodlines
Haven’t posted here in years, but this post took me back to a really good memory. I had a Weir Creek dog (Boggey Holler & William Webster top and bottom). He had a long bawl mouth and ran the back of my pack most times. There was something about running in water that transformed him and his mouth in...

Re: trialing to much?
I haven't posted on this board in a long time. This thread caused me to think back to a time when I ran with whatever was brought to a hunt. I had 3 females that started out good. I found a group of guys to run with, and it was like peanut butter and jelly. The dogs worked well together, but I only ...

Re: Watch Out For Snakes
I just loaded the 40 cal with a magazine of CCI Shotshells tonight. Last year I killed 2, but not quite this early. Also loaded another clip for the coyotes who don't know when to leave the area. A loaded gun seems like the only thing that keeps the snakes & coyotes away from the dogs. The minute I ...

Re: bells on beagles
The coyotes have chase mine back to the house while wearing bells. I will still use one when I am soloing a dog and want to know where it is.

Re: runts
When I bred Rottweilers, I always kept the runt of the litters. I don't know if it was the genetics of the line of dogs I had, but the runts always made the best pets. The other reason I kept the runts was because they were always the biggest and had the best conformation out of the litter by the ti...

Re: Feeding question
I have used them and I am currently using one due to my schedule. I don't think most people get pass the initial feeding habits. When you first fill it, the dogs are going to overeat. After that, they eat what they need. The key is to not let it run out. Keep food in it. In my experience, they eat l...

Re: jump vs hunt
A real jump dog just has a knack for jumping rabbits. I've read all the ways described in the previous post, and I have seen dogs use them all. A true jump dog knows when to use what and they make it look easy. I'd also like to add; I don't think most guys keep jump dogs around long enough to know w...

Re: What is wrong with people?
what do you guys think. was I wrong to get mad at them? I feel that I did the right thing. Nobody can say if your feelings were right or wrong. They are you feelings and you are entitled to experience & express them at you pleasure (displeasure in this case). Can't even say you did the right of wro...

Re: how many beaglers from sc do we have on here?
Bluemouse, I just don't have the time for them right now. My kids (10, 9, & 6) have me strung out with football, cheer leading, basketball, softball, and both Scouts. It's getting to be too much for me to handle. Rabbits and dogs will be around for a while and I can run them later. I only get 1 chan...

Re: what is everybody videoing with
JVC Everio. Pretty neat camera with good video (HD), 45x zoom, image stabilizer, and duel memory. I think I paid $70.00 for it on sale at Big Lots. I had a Flip Camera before this one, and I didn't like it.

Re: Will We Ever See A Big Dog Class???
So he became know as solo monster. Every time I hunt with someone new they go DARN what you feeding that hound. I have seen Monster, and he is every bit of what his name says he is!!! He looks like a short rottweiler in beagles clothing. When people say 15 inch, I always think tall (height). Monste...

Re: Ears/scenting
I didn't think about this thread that much this morning when I posted my first comment. I was simply presenting information that I had found written by others who are supposed to be experts. Just now, when I sat to at the computer, an image of my dog Razz came to mind. Razz was attacked by my neighb...

Re: Ears/scenting
That's the theory Runninghard. I can't say for sure, but that was the research I gathered several years ago while doing a study on hounds. Wish I could find it. Supposedly, the swinging of the ears gently lifts scent off of the ground towards the dogs nose. There is a flap of skin in each nostril th...
