I start mine soon as they open there eyes handling them daily, at about 8 weeks I put them on tame rabbits in the yard I let them work them for a few outing. then on the wild they go with a slow old down to get them on rabbits until they can jump and half ass circle one ,and then there on there own....

I have a bitch that does the same thing but it don't bother me one bit, I'm only a hunter but you can bet we are going to be running a rabbit in just a few minutes 90% of the time!!

Keep that stuff down there bare ground here in upstate NY.,we haven't had 5 inches all year!

I have the, old beagler by tri tronics it's really not any smaller it's definitely lighter. I'll post a picture later.

My vet said you can take them hunting as soon as they are ready, no need for them to rest for 30 days , it won't make any difference.!

Agreed...but we all know there are lots of studs out there and their pups that hunt like they haven't been fed in a week... :roll: . AND EVERY TIME TO THE FIELD ON TOP OF THAT!!!.sometimes mine just don't go at it as hard...I will still keep looking for a good one maybe one day I will find a couple...

Wednesday of this week...jumped one rabbit in about 5 hours of hunting....young dogs did average at best on that rabbit. Dogs did not hunt well...game just did not seem to be moving.....covered a lot of ground to just jump one. Had a couple short squirrel chases...couldn't even tree those and stay....

I feed 2 cups a day in winter and hunting, warm weather about 1. I run 13 inch hound.
