Hunts all day whether gunning, packing or soloing 12-24 hours and would sleep in the woods and do it again the next day. Seen many that would do it.

Re: Need some help guys.....
Something else that works good is liquid bandage, you can get it at any drug store. It will keep dirt from entering the wound and keeps it from ripping more also. I keep using it until the slice is healed well. I found they can re-open the slice easier if not using this stuff, it's cheap and easy to...

Re: Getting dogs ready for some serious trialing
I've soloed a couple steadily and FTCH'd them quickly. I believe there is a great deal of benifits to it, but I usually only have 1-3 hounds at a given time and can do so easy. This year my buddy and I could only run about 12 hours a week or so. I took the Maritime top 15" male award with a 22 month...

Re: Numbers
Most hare hounds up here are quite fast, but can keep up or pack with each other. One problem I've had is having a hound that is alot faster than most. Had one years ago and found that it was better to hunt her alone, otherwise the rest of the hounds had to run thier own hare. Once you shot the one ...

Re: How many here has bought a beagle out of Branko's Kennel??
We bought a few years ago directly out of Jack and Prop. The Jack female was awesome and the prop one was given to a friend so she seen les woods time, both produced exceptional hounds. We had a few grade dogs and other papered ones before that. They wer not in the same catagoy as the Branko hounds....

I get fog here regularly seeing I'm right on the Atlantic East Coast. I find it's the best running of all, head up flying usually. I see more deer wandering in the fog than usual too, either the scenting is good for them or the lack of visibility, but they seem to move alot on those days with fog. A...

Re: Feeding dogs before a hunt
Always feed the night before running or hunting. Possibly a handful 2 hours or more before a run, but that's it. Do know of a dog that got it's stomach twisted as said. A dog being fed a good diet has lots of energy for an all day hunt etc. I trial LPH and run them all day too.

Re: Love Them Branko Hounds
Always had the older Branko hounds and they ran in all temps. up here, fast and furious to walking the bad scent line out. Still have some old blood. Some of the new Branko stuff is not as good as other Branko crosses. I like them.

Re: Light Snow and dry dirt about the same
I think the two are much the same. It takes nose and patients to work out weak sent lines wether on dry ground or hard snow conditions. The best hounds I had that ran in bad snow conditions also were the ones that would out do hounds on dry ground and higher temps. As Nor' Wester said all snow is di...

Re: How big do you think he is?
He's a nice looking hound for sure, I've seen other large hounds measure in somehow? I wouldn't bother running oversized hound and having to teach them to squat and be scared of the measuring bar. I've been told to try to enter a 14" bitch in the 13" class brefor too. I said no way. She put a poundi...

Re: Anyone know of a lttermate ?
Thank's guys, Fillmore's american Pie is the littermate sister to this hound. She was lost running for a few days and my brother gave her to the guy that found her. He owned 170 acres at the time and let those two pups run all day and even half the night usually. This was from 4-8 months of age. It ...

Re: 28 guage???
The real difference between the Ga. sizes is the number of pellets that they hold, a 12 Ga. has alot more # 6 pellets than a .20 Ga. obviously. The speed and hitting power of the 2 different Ga.'s are still the same. A low brass 12Ga. is slower than a high brass .20 Ga., but a high brass 12Ga. and a...

Re: The one dog hunter
A good hound ran alone will get you as many rabbits as a pack as long as it can jump them decent and you don't wear the feet down on them. I hunted many years with just one good hound. It's easier to stay with them, no splits as with more than one and the hound gets a ton of experience too. Got to h...

Re: Anyone know of a lttermate ?
My brother called him Fillmore's American Gladiator, he is CKC reg'd. I only took him to one CKC field Trial back around 2003 or so, he placed 5th or NBQ, so I don't know if there would be any info on the web on him. I have a 5 Gen. ped on him in front of me. he is still here in good health after be...

Thank's, 3 gens back from Primma donna has FC Musky lake Booby on top. "Snow Country" is also a kennel name that's in the ped. three times. Anyone else, have info? Branko's Dutch Wiefke is there twice also one breeding by Adirondack Bobby and one by Musky lake Bobby.
