That was funnier than the joke!

Ran cottontails in KY week before last and could not get a race over 20 minutes.

Ran swampers in MS this weekend and ran 13 out of 15 till shot -- some over an hour, but swampers don't normally hole and they pour out the scent, but gotta have dogs that will run in water.

I think we are talking about different types of dogs. The brace dogs I've seen would take at least 30 minutes to go 100 yards -- seriously -- that it what I have seen. Prefer to run 3 dogs -- run better than a big pack (IMO). All with e-collars. I've found that if you have 2 or 3 dogs and you run them all the time together they do better. I've run those big packs, but I like smaller numbers . I also find dogs that run together often do better than with strange dog...

Oh, there was some fine hounds at the two trials I went to and 3 of the 4 casts were well judged. But I would not put any of MY hounds under 3 or 4 years old down with such trash and I would prefer not to run with such dogs. I just find it hard to believe people would compete with such hounds. I ain't shot a rabbit yet this season -- nothing wrong with it at all. I take a few people who don't get to go and they have shot a few, but no jump shooting when you have plenty of rabbits.

Bev has a tough job, but like many of you the field trailing stuff does not interest me. It seems TAB is a lot heavier on trails than it used to be, which I don't care for.
