I think we are talking about different types of dogs. The brace dogs I've seen would take at least 30 minutes to go 100 yards -- seriously -- that it what I have seen. One step, one bark and don't get in a hurry. Sounds like your brace is not the same brace I have seen. The dogs I saw could not poss...

I will not back up someone’s rude comments on brace dogs or their owners, but the comparison between any beagle that you can hunt rabbits with and a brace dog is ridiculous. Brace dogs of old follow a track (one bark, one step, one bark, one step…slowly.), not a rabbit and do not jump – they are NOT...

At at certain time and in my little corner of the world back in the 70s, if you had an AKC dog it was a Brace dog and not thought of very highly by the rabbit runner, but I am not bashing just saying what we had around us. I still wonder how all those AKC brace dogs became fast dogs again -- I know ...

Prefer to run 3 dogs -- run better than a big pack (IMO). All with e-collars. I've found that if you have 2 or 3 dogs and you run them all the time together they do better. I've run those big packs, but I like smaller numbers . I also find dogs that run together often do better than with strange dog...

Oh, there was some fine hounds at the two trials I went to and 3 of the 4 casts were well judged. But I would not put any of MY hounds under 3 or 4 years old down with such trash and I would prefer not to run with such dogs. I just find it hard to believe people would compete with such hounds. Serio...

I’m not a trailer, but I went a couple LP trails 3 years ago to see what it was about. Here is what I saw: Cold-trailing, backtracking, babbling and then a huge ghost track that got scored. The gallery watched as a babbler towed the whole pack except one dog that actually went the right way. The dog...

I own a grandson of Blueback -- best mouth I ever heard, runs a good track but does not hunt to hard and like to come check in with me all the time. Never trailed him -- since he has no hunt I don't utilize him much, but when he gets a good run going with that mouth he is hard to ignore -- shame he ...
