Re: Nose Power
You don't have to be from up north to have bad tracking. This severe drought we've had this yr is proof to that. I've been to a couple trials this year where "big nose" dog got a couple checks and won a cast when to me it shouldve never been produced. Runnin 60-70 yrds isn't gonna bring a rabbit to ...

Re: Flavor of the month.
Mike, I think it be worth a shot. I've only seen a dozen or so Reggie dogs run. There was wide range in nose strength, accuracy with mouth, and foot speed. I will say most all of them did have good hunt. I'd say with what honey will bring to the table, and your ability to make a dog, I'd say it shou...

Re: Purina Pro Plan Performance Formula
Really not trying to overcomplicate things but a few things to remember. You buy by the weight( pound), but you feed by volume(cup). Each dog food varies on how many cups you feed and is ultimately based on kcal's. Equally weighted 50 lb bags serving the same cups For each serving can still have dif...

Re: Purina Pro Plan Performance Formula
Joey, I like the food a lot. Haven't found a perfect feed yet. What I like about is it's hands down the best as far as cleanup goes. My dogs have a ton of energy on it. They have good, shiney coats on it. Downside is I have a hard time keeping weight on them. ( but this goes for every feed I've fed ...

Re: crosses you would like to see in the future.
She's probably too far gone, but if I could get her back I'd like to breed Gunsmoke Red Pepper II to Brankos Red River Runner. She is 10 yrs old and just had a liter pups. She is a producer of rabbit dogs and I believe what Runner would add to the mix would be very interesting!!

Congratulations Shannon with Buzz and Chad with Banjo! Both those hounds prove time after time that they're goin to run a rabbit, no matter the conditions!

Re: the stud lot
Matt spencer, I heard good things about your dog Bach. Sounds like a cast that wouldve been interesting to watch. As for me, I'm no expert. Just sharring my experiences. The 2 best races I've ever seen also didn't result in catching a rabbit. (a) he never slipped up or (b) chances are covering that ...

Re: the stud lot
I disagree, running a rabbit down because it is exhausted is the idea. But how quickly it becomes exhausted is the key. An upper medium-fast speed, lock-on track dog will catch more rabbits than a super fast cheat because it's steady pressure (in my personal experience). The rabbit doesn't have time...

Re: females
I've got a couple males that just turned 2 in July, that I raised out of gunsmoke red pepper II that I like a lot. I wish I had her back so I could try her to a different male and raise some gyps to try to linebreed back to.

Re: RUNNING
This has been a tough summer in southeast Missouri. We've experienced one of the worst droughts in years. combined with record setting temperatures, runnin has been nothing to brag about. On a positive note, this years rabbit population should be great, I've seen more baby rabbits than any other yea...

Re: the stud dog of your choice right now.
Chimney Rock you make a good point of not going by percentages in a way, but then the owner of the stud dog has to step up and not let his stud breed to just anything then. He clearly has a choice on who he lets breed to his male. That is the only way you can clearly see who produces what and then ...
