Collar chewing

Great tips guys. I have the same problem with two 10 month-old pups and the cost of collars isn't cheap. I liked the rivet one from Bunnycide and i'll try that first. If that doesnt work i'll try the pepper spray. Happy running guys. :D

Starting pen

I'm almost ready to fence in several acres for a starting pen. My question is what can i plant in this area that provides good cover for the bunnies. I have already built several brush piles. In the process of building feeders(from the pic in TAB Feb. issue) and have put out salt. This area was prev...

We have planted both types at our club running grounds and i feel both are good. The sericea is real thick and makes better cover especially for young bunnies and both are good for them to eat on in winter.

Rabbit feeders

Look at this months issue of the American beagler it has a picture and discription of how to make both the feeder and brushpile out of plastic drums. thought it was worth trying in my starter pen. My beagle club feeds from feeders during the winter months and stops when spring green vegetation start...

Fast Dog

Lot of wisdom being shown here. All good info. My dog would run ahead of the pack all the time but would overun it at 13 mos. He loved the front . Old guy told me to solo him3 times and on the fourth run him with a pack then solo 3 more times and etc. wel he's 4yo now and hunts shoulder to shoulder ...

Picking pups

As the man said, "it's a crapshoot". I like the dog who's not shy but currious trying to explore his enviroment. I find this type of pup will search fearlessly. Of course if you can see mom and dad run it helps. If its a male i like not the alpha dog but the second in line this one knows his place a...

Rabbits for training

BSBowhunter.......sometimes you can find people who raise San Jaun rabbits to use for training pups. I've seen them for sale at field trials . They are good to get a young pup started and interested quicker. The old guys say tho that if you let the pup sight chase too much it slows down the scenting...

Pyrimid for hunt6

Hunt6 read your post about cutting down cedar trees for cover. One of the guys at our beagle club mentioned "Living brushpiles". This was done by cutting the cedar about 2 feet off the ground but not cutting all the way thru ( about 2/3 of the way) push it over and the hinge thats hanging on to the ...

use of salt

Has anyone ever used salt pelletts? Happened to see these at the wal-mart the other day for water treatment. Thought if they worked it would be easier to spread out in the honeysuckles and fence-lines. Anyone have any experience with it?

Beagles Unlimited

Just read where Don isn't going to keep that page going. It's a shame as he was able to have a lot of information available for the Beagler and others as well. Thanks Don, for providing me a lot of hours of information and I will miss your work. Good luck in the future.

Training a 11 week old puppy

This is good that you have done some obidience work with him. The main things for me is to come when called or come when i blow a whistle. At the age of your puppy this is easy to do. Puppies learn faster with treats. I use cut-up hotdogs. I associate the whistle with the treat and before you know i...
