Re: Island snow

Tony, we got about 8 to 10 inches yesterday, 12-01-08, here in Newberry there is close to 2 feet, very unusual for this early in the year. I talked to my family in the Soo and they only got about 2 inches so hard to say what the island got. Usually they don't start grooming the snowmobile trails unt...

Re: Tracker VS Garmin

I will own one someday but right now am concerned about battery life. It is extremely cold here in the winter and the shock collar batteries (classic 70) are useless in less then an hour sometimes. Terry keep us informed how the batteries hold up when it gets really cold. The wildlife tracking batte...

Mike, Jimmy's last name is Davis, you guys were a hoot! Good thing Del can hit your hat cause from what I saw of your guys shooting you were no threat to the hare population. LOL  Earl

Re: Old dogs and Snowshoes

Hey Duke, I have one that is 11 and he still does a fine job, only run him solo or with my buddy's female of the same age. Packing them with younger dogs usually doesn't work out unless they are in great shape. 8 isn't old for a dog to run hare just make sure the pack is similar in speed. Good luck....

Re: WHAT ARE GAS PRICES IN YOUR AREA TODAY???

From 3.92 to 4.29 over night. We have a field trial here on October 4th. We are very isolated and folks have to drive a long way to get here, kind of scary isn't it? Hare

Re: do all dogs have a hard time adjusting from hair to cottonta

Well here's my 2 cents. I live in the U.P. of Mich. where all we have here to run is hare. I have very little experience with cottontails. That being said after reading all the way through this thread I need to get better dogs, we do have many days out of the year where they can run pretty much chec...

Re: While walking pups yesterday...

Pike, it is a big body of water but has many bays that you usually can get out of the wind if needed. I have a 16 footer with a 40 hp motor, if I can't get out in that I just stay on shore. Have seen many 14 footers out there. Crawler harness works about everywhere don't they? Hare

Re: While walking pups yesterday...

PRB your combo for walleye works well here also, one other thing that I have good luck with is a gumdrop floating jig with crawler, that is all they wanted on the opener. If you ever get to fish Little Bay Denoc on lake Michigan up here it will be a memory you won't forget. Rated one of the 3 best w...

Re: While walking pups yesterday...

Charlie, I do most of my walleye fishing at night, that's when they do most of their feeding, especially the bigger ones. walleyes are about as good as it gets when plucking something out of the frying pan to eat. Right up there with perch, really like blue gills and crappies but not many places aro...

Re: Anyone use cattle ear tags on there hounds!!

I purchased the purple ones from our feed store, cut slits in them and ran collar thru, I also wonder about the dogs chewing them as I have 2 males together and the younger one thinks any thing the other has on is a chewy toy. I use mosquito barrier around my kennel and ticks don't seem to cross it ...

I'm one of the bell guys also, they help in so many ways most of which have been pointed out by others on here, one more way I use the bells is with young dogs in the check area, the bells will let you know if he is searching the check or just standing around waiting for another dog to work it out, ...

Re: Beagler Harley Diabetes Benefit Ride

Depends on where and when. I'm a long ways from KY but open minded as I love to ride and do quite a few charity rides each year. We are having a ride on June 7th, it will be the second annual, it is to raise money for a 5 year old boy whose mother was killed by his father, he is being raised by the ...

Re: Stiffed on a Dog Payment - Sorry Kentucky

Bev, we can say y'all as well as," you all" up here, too. If you are good people y'all are invited to " Come on up" It's just too bad some people don't adhere to the " my word is my way of life". I still trust most folks until they prove me wrong, then what ever it cost me I consider it as " buying ...
