Re: Above ground kennels

Simplest answer I have is cleanliness. This and if you live in a cold climate there is more....in Maine the winters are cold. Originally I built a great concrete slab and it was awesome all summer and fall after I laid it because you could just hose it off and keep everything clean/odor free. Then ...

Re: Broke my Garmin TT10 collar today

I wasn't aware of the program either, I called thinking I could just buy the plastic part and fix it myself. They told me they don't sell any parts but they did explain the swap program which although it was more expensive than buying a plastic cover I was still a lot more happy paying that than buy...

Re: Broke my Garmin TT10 collar today

Garmin has a swap program....you pay $79 and send in your broken collar and they send you a new collar. Much better than paying another $299....so much for being happy about the pup buroughing through the nasty stuff when she's hunting.....she needs to make sure the nasty stuff clears her collar fro...

Broke my Garmin TT10 collar today

Took the dogs out running this morning and when my pup came back in I saw the piece that rides on back of the dog's neck is broken :blackeye: This collar is a few months out of warranty, I sure hope this isn't a sign of things coming for all my other collars which are pretty much at that 2 yr mark a...

Re: What is the farthest distance you've seen Hare go out?

Not to get off topic and just askin cuz i dont know ! what does a hare run like at trials that are held in pens ? and how big are these pens ? Depends on the hare, the terrain and the pen size. All the clubs up here are different sizes, most range from 50-100 acres. Typically I see the hare run 200...

Re: The hunted hare...

Terrain can be a factor....in extremely hilly terrain they tend to run smaller circles. I believe it has something to do with the way they can see...pretty much if they aren't turning they can't see.....they tend to run larger circles in areas where the ground is closer to level and they can scan fu...

Re: Tracking / training systems?

I used to have the Tracker Maxima beep collar setup with Supralite collars and that worked pretty well. I used to have an Astro 220 Garmin gps tracking setup with DC 30 collars and that also worked pretty well. When using the Tracker and Astro systems I used a TriTronics Trashbreaker along with them...

Re: Dog House's

I like the K9 condos from Gun Dog Supply....they are easy to clean....well insulated and durable. I replaced one my Seneca houses with the K9 condo and it's held up a lot better for me. My Seneca house was great for a few years then the walls started peeling down, the interior walls are held in plac...

Re: Alpha Discharging

Not common, I've left mine in the truck before in below zero temps and the batteries were fine. Now if he left it discharged from his previous hunt and then left it overnight it's probably more likely.

Re: Garmin alpha collar question

I traded all my tritronics collars for the colored reflective tape ones when I got them. They really show up when your catching hounds in the dark and I like that traffic can see them if they would get on the road at dark. I use the same collars on mine as well and like them. That being said you ca...

Re: IS IT POSSIBLE

It's not only possible but I think it's somewhat common to have 1 or 2 out of many litters. The thing is beagles are a crap shoot, you simply can't decide what you want and breed it 100% of the time. I know a lot of guys will say buy "XYZ" kennels dog and you'll get just that but if you want to be h...

I've never been but the cover looks similar to what we have in Maine so it should be a good time

Here's a video of a nice solo dog on a hare there that I saw on Youtube awhile back

Re: Garmin Alpha range question??

Mybeagles the same thing happened before there were "Garmin guys" as you put it....folks sit around listening to the hounds and know exactly what's happening in the race just by sound. The again you have a lot of guys that get right into the action and still don't always see or acknowledge what's go...

Re: Garmin Alpha range question??

Here is my question to anyone involved....why would you shock a dog you can't hear or know there area to be sure they are being corrected??? What if they are near a highway and run into traffic??? this has always been an issue discussed....if I can't hear them...why shock them??? I understand getti...
